The Hop Leaf Gazette was the ‘In House’ magazine of H&G Simonds Ltd for distribution to management, staff & publicans. First published monthly in October 1926, it was also later for public sale.
This section is for the 16 fat blue compendium volumes that were produced for management & staff who subscribed for them, annually from 1926 – 1942. They contain 192 monthly issues, each as a separate and fully searchable file in high resolution. Well over 10,000 pages of the Social History of Reading, packed with names and dates of Reading’s oldest families. There are a very few of the original monthly volumes in my archive – next section on the menu bar to the right.
You can use the annual links below to navigate through the 16 years and monthly issues. Note in order to be more effectively searchable, the files are large, 10-15MB each, so please be patient!
If you can loan us any missing issues for this project – please do get in touch.
